Congratulations to the new Associate Editor for the Education and Career Development section of the Journal of Surgical Research!
We are pleased to announce that Rebecca L. Hoffman, MD, MSCE, has been selected to serve as an Associate Editor for the Education and Career Development section of the Journal of Surgical Research (JSR).
Dr. Hoffman will be joining our current Associate Editor for the section, Dr. Abbey Fingeret, as Dr. Romeo Ignacio, Jr., completes his term in the role. Dr. Ignacio has served as an Associate Editor since 2021; we are extremely grateful for his dedication and longstanding contributions to the journal.

Rebecca L. Hoffman, MD, MSCE
Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine
Dr. Hoffman is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Vice Chair of Education and Research for the Geisinger Surgery Institute, and Associate Program Director of the Geisinger Central General Surgery Residency Program. Her clinical practice focuses on colon and rectal surgery, and her academic interests include innovative approaches to surgical training and assessment, polygenic risk scores for diverticulitis, and outcomes in patients undergoing colon resection. She is a Distinguished Member of the Geisinger Academy of Educators and an Associate Member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators. In the Association of Surgical Education, she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Vice Chairs of Education Committee as well as a member of the Faculty Development Committee and the Surgical Education Research Committee. She also serves as the ACS Young Fellows Association Representative to the Board of Regents Scholarship Committee.
