OPEN RANK: CARDIAC SURGERY FACULTY
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin are seeking a Cardiac Surgeon within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Department of Surgery. The ideal candidate would perform all aspects of cardiac surgery with a specific interest and ability in cardiac transplantation, has an area of clinical and/or research interest, and who will be passionate about contributing to our expanding Cardiac Surgery Program. The Division is seeking a candidate who demonstrates excellent clinical skills and a collaborative work style.
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin – Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Join our outstanding practice of 13 cardiothoracic surgeons, 20 advanced practice providers, and 14 perfusionists that provide world-class care for patients from all over Wisconsin and beyond. Representing comprehensive cardiac surgery care in Wisconsin, our program is recognized for nationally ranked outcomes and internationally known specialists and is the highest-volume cardiac transplantation program in the state. We provide highly individualized care to patients through a multidisciplinary team, which includes cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, transplant coordinators, nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, cardiac rehabilitation specialists, registered dietitians, social workers, financial counselors, and psychologists.
As an academic medical center involved in groundbreaking research, we offer deep clinical expertise and have specialists skilled at managing even the most complex cases. Our program is known for its expertise in ventricular assist device (VAD) therapy and was awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission.

The Department of Surgery is comprised of 11 divisions, including 9 clinical divisions, a Division of Education, and a Division of Research, with a large clinical presence on the campus of the academic medical center and the Zablocki VA Medical Center. The department is committed to clinical excellence, innovative surgical research, academic achievement/professional development, and surgical education. We have a strong focus on resident and student education, providing them with the skills needed to care for the patients of today and tomorrow. Our department has a significant number of regional affiliations and practice locations outside of the metro Milwaukee area.

Position Requirements: The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Completion of a Cardiac Surgery training program with and UNOS certification in heart transplantation.
- Additional training, interest, and demonstrated expertise (UNOS certified or eligible) in cardiac transplantation.
- Currently at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor position with 3–5 years of post-fellowship practice experience.
- Interested in mentorship for a future leadership role in cardiac transplantation.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Wisconsin.
- A valid DEA number.
