Description: The photo was taken as we were leaving the Addis Ababa Juvenile Detention Center, where we were providing health screenings and preventative care. The nearby school had just let out, and the younger children came out to play. One curious boy latched on to peer through our van window.
Artist: Dianela Perdomo is a medical student at Johns Hopkins interested in general surgery. She grew up in rural Cuba, which fueled her interest in global health work. She enjoys reading philosophy and photography.
