Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University are recruiting a visionary, nationally recognized physician executive for the position of Chief, Department of Pediatric Surgery at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Chief, Division of Pediatric Surgery at The Ohio State University.
The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to lead a world-class pediatric surgery program and oversee the Department’s comprehensive surgical services, outstanding educational program, and innovative research portfolio. Applicants must have a distinguished academic record, a reputation as a collaborative leader, and ability to mentor the next generation of academic pediatric surgeons. Academic rank will be at the level of Professor.
Reporting to the Surgeon-in-Chief at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Chair of the Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University, the successful candidate will develop collaborative relationships with Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Ohio State University Department of Surgery administrative leaders to advance the Department’s ambitious strategic plan and will serve as a role model for the department as a physician and surgeon. The Chief will actively promote a culture of surgical excellence, mutual support and respect to further the mission of the Department.
The Department is one of the largest and most diverse pediatric surgical departments in the country with 18 outstanding pediatric surgeons and active clinical programs focused on general pediatric surgery, trauma, burns, minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, fetal therapy and surgical oncology, as well as a robust pediatric surgery fellowship training program with subspecialty training in minimally invasive surgery and surgical critical care. The Department is a national leader in pediatric surgery research, grant funding and innovation.
Annually, the group performs more than 4000 surgical cases and provides care for nearly 6000 outpatients. In addition to providing general pediatric surgical care, the Department is leading the way with cutting edge programs such as the first free-standing adolescent bariatric surgery center, a comprehensive chest wall clinic, an inflammatory bowel disease center, a nationally recognized minimally invasive surgery program, one of the nation’s largest burn and trauma program, a multidisciplinary surgical oncology clinic and a center for colorectal and pelvic reconstruction program. Department faculty participate in and are supported by the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Center for Surgical Outcomes Research.
