Anai Kothari is the new Society of Asian Academic Surgeons Representative to the AAS!
Dr. Kothari received his BS in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2008 and his MD from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2012. He did his residency training in General Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center, during which he earned an MS in Clinical Research Methods and Epidemiology from Loyola University Chicago. He then completed a clinical fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2019 – 2021.
Most recently, he joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He holds an additional faculty appointment in the Clinical & Translational Science Institute of Southeast WI (CTSI) and is the inaugural Director of the MCW Cancer Center’s Integrated Cancer Data Resource. His clinical focus centers on the surgical treatment of patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer, including metastatic disease to the peritoneum and liver. He also is a member of the Collaborative for Healthcare Delivery Science. He also leads the Accelerating Insight through Augmented Intelligence Laboratory with a specific interest in leveraging data science tools to personalize oncologic treatment, combat disparities, and digitize cancer care delivery.
Dr. Kothari is supported by his wife Jahnavi, with whom he has a son, Viaan. He looks forward to continuing the strong relationship between SAAS and the AAS.
