Deadline for Nominations – September 15, 2016
The 22nd Annual Excellence in Surgical Education Awards are now open for nomination. We are pleased to inform you that the number of awards has grown over the past several years and now include four categories:
- Faculty Awards
Two awards are given annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in the field of surgical education; the ASE Philip J. Wolfson Outstanding Teacher Award and the ASE Distinguished Educator Lifetime Achievement Award. The Philip J. Wolfson Outstanding Teacher Award will be presented to up to four faculty members who are actively involved in surgical education and considered to be outstanding teachers. The Distinguished Educator Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented annually to a maximum of one individual who has attained national prominence and demonstrated excellence as a master educator.
- Resident/Fellow Awards
Two awards are given annually to surgical trainees who have begun to excel in the field of surgical education. The ASE Outstanding Resident Teacher Award will be presented to a maximum of four residents who are actively involved in surgical education and considered to be outstanding teachers. The ASE Linnea Hauge, PhD Promising Educational Scholar Award will be presented to one resident or fellow who demonstrates promise as a future leader and scholar in surgical education.
- Innovation Award
The Excellence in Innovation in Surgical Education Award will be given annually to a team of individuals who exemplify a successful cooperative effort in surgical education innovation and is designed to advance the ASE’s mission to promote excellence, innovation and scholarship.
- Clerkship Coordinator Recognition Award
The Clerkship Coordinator Recognition Award will be given annually to one undergraduate surgical education clerkship coordinator who best exemplifies excellence in the support and management of the Surgery Clerkship Program at their institution.
Complete information is available on the ASE website. Please note the requirements for each award, as incomplete submissions will not be considered. The deadline for the receipt of nominations is September 15, 2016, 11:59pm PDT.. No nominations will be accepted after that date.
