General Surgery
I am an academic surgical oncologist at the University of Virginia, specializing in melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma, with a lab that focuses on the impact of obesity on treatment melanoma responses. I have been a member of the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) since 2013, when I had the privilege of receiving a medical student research award. The AAS has played a formative role in my training, providing invaluable opportunities for growth and development throughout my career, from medical student to resident, fellow, and now as a junior attending. I have previously served on the Basic and Translational Science Committee as a candidate member, working alongside exceptional faculty. As I transition into a junior faculty role, I am eager to continue my active participation in the AAS in a new capacity. Serving on a committee would allow me to give back to an organization that has been instrumental in my professional journey and to help shape its future in a meaningful way.
