I am a fellowship-trained health services researcher, Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, and faculty member in the Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Center at the Indiana University School of Medicine. My surgical practice is focused on bariatric and general surgery, which is well aligned with my research interests in addressing access to, use of, and equity issues in the treatment of obesity. I aim to develop an extramurally funded research portfolio that uses applied medical informatics and implementation science approaches to seamlessly translate evidence-based findings into improved care for patients with obesity.
I have greatly enjoyed and benefited from participation in multiple Association of Academic Surgeons (AAS) events, including the AAS Fall Courses, Surgical Investigators course, as well as multiple ASC meetings. I believe the opportunity to serve as a committee member within the AAS would provide me the opportunity to further enrich my professional development, networking, and leadership skills. I am excited to help advance the mission of the AAS and thank you for your consideration.
