With a strong foundation in both basic science and clinical research, I believe I would be a valuable addition to the Research Committee for the Association of Academic Surgeons. Currently I am an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine with a mixed research and clinical practice focusing on hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease. In my current role, I have taken on leadership positions that emphasize the integration of research and clinical practice, including serving as the Director of Resident Research and surgery clerkship director. These roles have not only honed my leadership skills but also deepened my commitment to mentoring the next generation of surgeon-scientists.
My research interests focus on novel treatment approaches for colorectal liver metastasis and personalized therapeutic options for pancreatic cancer. My work has resulted in several NIH and DOD IDeA award submissions, reflecting my commitment to translational research. Â These experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in surgical research, particularly in fostering collaborations that bridge laboratory findings with clinical applications.
I am passionate about fostering a collaborative research environment and have built strong partnerships with local researchers. My involvement in national professional societies has further enhanced my ability to contribute meaningfully to research initiatives. By serving on the Research Committee, I aim to leverage my experience to help shape the future of academic surgery, promote innovative research, and mentor the next generation of surgeon-scientists within the Association of Academic Surgeons.
