Medical Student (n/a)
I am a third-year medical student of Nigerian descent, passionate about breast surgery and global health. Early in medical school, I was elected as the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (CCLCM) Liaison for the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). In this role, I promoted diversity at CCLCM and built connections between underrepresented in medicine (URiM) students across various programs. I represented the needs of CCLCM members at SNMA/LMSA meetings and attended the Annual Medical Education Conference where I networked with peers, residents, and physicians. I also represented CCLCM at the Pre-Medical Fair alongside Dr. Jazmine Oliver. In 2022, I was honored as the Regional Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) Liaison of the Year nationally, supporting minority medical pipelines in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. Currently, I serve as the MAPS Membership Liaison on the National MAPS Committee of SNMA, working closely with Pre-Medical Board Members to support chapters nationwide.
My future goals include pursuing a general surgery residency with a focus on surgical oncology and participating in a Physician-Scientist Training Program to become an academic clinician-investigator. I aim to practice in an academic hospital, mentor future healthcare professionals, and advocate for diversity in surgery, medicine, and biomedical research. Additionally, I plan to contribute to global surgery initiatives in West Africa, focusing on cancer prevention, treatment, and control while supporting community outreach and healthcare infrastructure development.
